WI II's
Bike Blessing
April 4, 2009
Our Road Captain John arranged for us to meet at Marty's Diamond
Restaurant in Waterford for breakfast before our ride to St. Mark's
Church in Jefferson for the WI II bike blessing. It was in the
mid 30's when we all arrived at the restaurant. John, Ken, Mark and
Ron enjoyed a leisurely breakfast and good company.
There was quite a bit of sun as we prepared to leave and it had
warmed to the lower 40's. John led us through Mukwonago and Palmyra
on our way to Jefferson. We all had heated gear on except for Mark
but he said only his finger tips got a bit cold on the ride. We met
up with Bruce, Chad, Wayne and other friends when we arrived at the
church. We warmed up with some coffee and donuts and shot the breeze
for a while. Then at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Comstock took us out to the
street where he conducted a nice blessing service.
Following the blessing, most of the group headed to Whitewater for
lunch but we were still full from breakfast so we headed back to
Racine County. Ron led for a ways until he again picked a dead end
parking lot to drive into despite having a GPS. At least we didn't
have 20 bikes behind us! It was a nice time and it felt good to be
out on the bike again.
